Analysis List (AL)

Analysis List (Analysenliste) in Switzerland

The Analysis List (Annex 3 of the healthcare services ordinance (KLV)), known as the Analysenliste (AL) in German, is a comprehensive list maintained by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). It specifies all laboratory analyses, tests, and diagnostic services that are covered by the compulsory health insurance (basic insurance) in Switzerland (Art. 34 Para. 1 KVG).

The Analysis List details the laboratory analyses and diagnostic tests that are reimbursable under Switzerland’s mandatory health insurance system. This ensures that patients receive coverage for essential medical tests.

The list standardizes the types of analyses and tests covered, ensuring consistency across the healthcare system. It helps in defining the scope of what is considered necessary and beneficial for patient care. By including only specific, approved analyses, the list ensures that patients receive tests that meet high standards of quality and reliability.

The Analysis List helps control healthcare costs by specifying which tests are reimbursable. This limits unnecessary or redundant testing, promoting cost-effective healthcare.
